Hi guys, this is OnePlus 13s and it will come between ₹ 50 to ₹ 55,000 and it is a small phone. Now the interesting thing is that the closest phone in such a small size available in the market today is Xiaomi 15. That too comes for ₹ 60,000. But do you know what is the best thing? There are more small phones available in the market along with Xiaomi 15. Still OnePlus 13s has no direct competition. Technically. Why did I say this? I will explain everything. But before starting, my name is Sanchit. Also press the bell icon. Let's start with the design because OnePlus has done something different here. Meaning if I show you the old OnePlus phones and now if you look at the back panel of this OnePlus 13, it does not seem that this is the design language of OnePlus. And probably many people will not know. A new Note phone of OnePlus is going to come. This phone has exactly the same design language. Okay. It seems a bit weird to me. But who knows if OnePlus has a long term vision for this design. You never know. Look, the good thing is that the design of this phone is very comfortable to hold. It is also light weight. But honestly the in-hand feeling of this phone is exactly like the iPhone 16 Pro. And why not have an in-hand feeling like iPhone. Meaning if I look at the edges of this phone, they have been smoothed a bit just like the iPhone. There is a flat frame, flat back panel. And even the shape of the buttons of this phone also looks a bit like the iPhone. Anyway, don't get confused. It is a good thing that it comes with an in-and-out feeling like iPhone. The in-and-out feeling of iPhone is very premium. But there is one thing that I did not like. This phone has an IP65 rating. I think OnePlus should have given IP68 or 69 rating. Anyway, I was testing the speakers of this phone and according to me the clarity is very good. In fact, when we listen to music, the separation of the instruments is heard properly in this phone. But the volume seemed a little low to me but still it is fine according to the size. And there is optical inside the fingerprint. It is working well. And do you know what is the new thing?
There is no alert slider in this phone. But instead of the alert slider, a new button has been given here which works in many different ways. I will explain that in the software. Now let's talk about the display. Look, the best point of this form factor is the display. That means it is a 6.32 inch display. It comes with full HD plus resolution. The AMLED display has a 120Hz refresh rate and is an LTPO panel. It comes with support for Dolby Vision and also covers 100% DC P3. And in direct sunlight, this display can bring 1600 nits brightness. All these specs will be quoted as good according to the price and all these things. The advantage of a small phone that I was talking about is that we can navigate the entire display from left to right with just one hand. It is a bit easy. But as I mentioned the brightness number in direct sunlight, the first thing I checked was whether its display is readable under the sun or not. And I think it is readable. Now one thing I observed while testing the display. I played exactly the same content on Netflix in both OnePlus 13s and OnePlus 13. And for some reason the color tuning or brightness of OnePlus 13s seemed better. Because the overall scene looks brighter in OnePlus 13s. If any scene with a highlight comes, then that also looks brighter. Look, I am technically speaking, it was unexpected for me that such a small panel has been made so bright. This thing is good. So overall, the display of this phone is good. And if I judge according to the size of the phone, then it has a 5850 mAh battery. This will be called a very good capacity and along with this, 80 W wire charging is also a very good point of this phone. But yes, this phone also has wireless charging. Well, to test the charging speed practically, I did a charging test inside this phone. Where I charged this phone from 1% to 100% and as soon as the charging test started, this phone was 39% charged within 15 minutes. And then when I checked after 30 minutes, it was 68% charged and after 45 minutes, this phone was 94% charged and it took around 51 minutes for this phone to be fully charged 100%. So technically speaking, even after having such a big battery, I found the charging speed to be fine and this time OnePlus has done a great job in the software. Meaning, a lot of AI features have been given in this phone. By the way, let me tell you that this phone gets Oxygen OS 15. The security patch is updated for April. Talking about the update policy, it is of 4 + 6 years and all the advantages of Oxygen OS are clearly visible in this phone. Meaning there are smooth animations here. Folders can be resized. There are many customization options. Plus we get control over all the preinstalled apps, which we want to uninstall and which to disable. And as I mentioned in the design department, the alert slider has been removed. In its place, a new key has been inserted which according to me is also a good decision. I mean many people used to say that the alert slider is not working for those people. It is not useful for those who always keep their phone on silent mode. So due to this the functionality of the alert slider was very limited. But now in its place a new button has been given. Its name is plus key and with this button obviously we can put the phone on ring and silent mode. But other things can also be done. But do you know what is the function of this button by default? As soon as we press it, a screenshot will be captured. And this screenshot will be visible in an app called Mind Space which is an AI centric app and personally I find it a bit funny that how Motorola, Pixel, Nothing all put the screenshot in AI first. Well AI should have come in the screenshot because whenever we want to remember something important, we first take its screenshot. Now I was testing this feature. Now I am giving an example. I took a screenshot of an article. And now see, if I search any word of that article inside the Mind Space app, then this screenshot appears. Or let me show you another example which I tried. I sent a message on WhatsApp to myself from a team member where he is inviting me to a party and now when I took a screenshot of it, as soon as I took the screenshot through this button, a notification came here asking if I want to save this invitation as an event in the calendar app and I saved it. Well, there is another option here as well. If you do not want the screenshot to be captured with this new button, then like in OnePlus phones, we take a screenshot by swiping down with three fingers. Instead of this, if we swipe up with three fingers, then this screenshot will be saved in Mind Space itself. Next AI feature, do you know what I liked? On the home screen, on the bottom side of the search, if I write here how to clean junk files. Then here the exact settings will come on how to clean junk files. I am sure this will be a very helpful feature for people. Talking about the next AI feature, call translation is available. Let me show you a live example. Whatever the other person is saying in the call that I am getting, it is being translated live and displayed on the screen. And do you know what the good thing is?
Whether it is ZM calls, WhatsApp calls or any video call. All these calls are recorded, transcribed and summarized. And a feature called AI Reframe has also come inside the Photos app and it is a good feature. It means that many times we take photos in the wrong framing which are slightly tilted. So this feature can fix the framing completely and will give options by cropping in different ways. And obviously like other Android phones, there is also support for Jini, there is also Circle to Search and OnePlus has also introduced a new translation app. And many people don't know that recently OnePlus has made an app called Opp Connect where we can freely share files from Windows or Mac or even iPhone. So basically, there are a lot of features available. Be it AI or in general. Look, it often happens that I am not able to test all the features in the first impression videos I make about unboxing for a long term. So when I bring a review, then I will tell you how these features work in real life. But I can give a lot of clarity about the performance. Look, whenever a small phone has been launched on this channel, I have always told you guys that small phones come with some compromises in the performance department. And usually those compromises are related to heating. Because small phones do not have much space to manage heat. But surprisingly, there was no compromise in this phone. I mean there is Snapdragon 8 Lite which is the best processor. There is 12GB RAM. I have the variant with 5.2GB storage. In fact, the benchmark scores like N22 is around 25 lakhs. Around 8000 on Geekbench and around 72% stability in 3D Mark would be considered good for a small phone. So the benchmarks are sorted. In fact, the practical testing of this phone that I did, it performed very well there too. I mean, the first thing I played on this phone was Withering Waves which is a very heavy game. Now, something different happened here. First of all, I played this game on this phone for 20 minutes. But in this 20 minutes of gameplay, there were not many cut scenes. And if you see in these screenshots, those cut scenes run at 30fps. So that's why the drop in the graph is a bit too much. So, after this 20 minutes of gameplay, I directly played another game where obviously there were no cut scenes. And now look at this graph, this small phone gave me 60fps constantly which is a very surprising thing and if I talk about heating also, then in the first screenshot if this phone had heated up to 40°, then look at the screenshot of the second session, it has heated up to 41° only. Then after this I played Jashan Impact for 2025 minutes. This is also a very heavy game. And look at its screenshot too. This phone again gave 60fps. And the one or two drops that are seen in this graph are also because I was switching on the Wi-Fi. And if I talk about heating in this game also, then that also remained under 40°. Anyway BGA Talking about the Mi, for now the setting is 90fps. But here the option of frame boost is available. So it becomes 120 FPS. But if I tell you simply, then this phone is also good for gaming. Because this phone has handled heavy games properly. That too without frame drops. So if I look at it according to the price segment and also according to the small size of this phone. So this is the first time that I am able to say that brother, you can also do gaming in this phone. OnePlus has done a very good job in performance. Now let's talk about the camera. Look, this phone has a 50 + 50 megapixel setup and this phone does not have an ultra wide lens. That means the second 50 megapixel lens is a telephoto lens. And if I show the photos of this phone, then the big surprising part is that the camera of this phone is also good. I mean I was judging these photos and I can simply say that there is good detail in these photos. Even if I zoom in and see. And if we see the colors in these photos, we have tried to keep them realistic. Yes, there is a little saturation which looks good. To explain simply, a very good balance has been maintained between a realistic photo and an eye-catching photo. And like other OnePlus phones, this phone also tries to take bright photos. Because of this, shadows will be seen a little less. And I think HDR is also good. I mean if you look at this photo, there is not much light on the subject. The still background has also been controlled properly and there is no noise on the subject. In fact, this phone is able to do very good processing on human shots as well. I mean I liked the skin tone here, there is also detail in the photo. And I can say the same things about portrait mode as well. But there is a small change here that there is a little more contrast in portrait mode. And I think more contrast is given to create a dramatic look. And you know what is the interesting thing? This is a 2x camera, the sensor size is small. Still, this portrait photo, I would say is very good. And if I zoom even more with telephoto, the photo is not pixelated. Apart from this, the background blur in portrait mode is also good and the cut out is also good. And by the way, let me tell you brother, there is a difference in processing here in the main camera and telephoto camera because there is not much natural contrast in the telephoto lens. But yes, I liked the dynamic range and colors. Still, if I have to judge critically, then sometimes it can happen in the telephoto lens that noise comes in some areas. That too is visible on zooming in. Or it may also happen that if there is a very complicated lighting situation, then the colors may be slightly off. But I am telling both these things by nit picking because the overall camera looks good. And if I talk about the front camera, there is a 32 megapixel camera inside this phone. And auto focus is available in selfies. But if I show selfies, I think the skin tone comes out properly here. The processing of the overall photo is good. And OnePlus has given the option of 8X and 2X here in selfies. Well, the 2X one does not work so well. And if I talk about videos, then like OnePlus had made a lot of improvements in the algorithm of videos in OnePlus 13, I can say the same about this phone because good colors are coming here in video recording and there is not much color shifting. The dynamic range is also good and the detail is also correct. And we can also shoot very good selfie videos. Yes, if I look carefully, a slight red tint appears on the screen but overall the video is good. The only difference is that we can shoot 4K 60fps from the back camera and 4K 30fps from the front. So now let's sum up everything and try to understand the conclusion of this phone. In the beginning of this video, I said that this phone has no competition. If you look at other small phones in the market which are latest. Its price becomes a big advantage and that makes it different from the competition. That means the phone is worth ₹55,000 and after applying the offer, it is available for ₹50,000 and at this price point, it is an interesting phone. Now, to speak, I can count many shortcomings in this phone like there is no wireless charging. There should have been an IP 68 rating or 69 ultra wide lens. I can make a very big list like this. But if I analyze carefully, this phone is working reliably in every department. Or understand it from another angle. The closest competition of this phone is Xiaomi 15 which comes around ₹ 60,000 and about Xiaomi 15, I had clearly told you that that phone is very good only for the camera. There are many compromises in it in other things. For example, battery, performance and software are three very important departments which are not the strength of Xiaomi 15. Whereas in ₹ 50,000, all these departments are strong in OnePlus 13s. So I will simply recommend OnePlus 13s to those people who want a small phone and can work reliably in every department.
